Yuxin He is a sophomore in food science. Her first encounter with food began at a young age, when her parents would take her all over the world to enjoy local cuisine. She was fascinated by how food connected with people and how it represented the identity and culture of a group. She then took a different path, working on pathogen inhibition. She worked in a laboratory to test inhibition effect of different substances on bacteria such as S.aureus. She was intrigued by the gene editing technique and its potential. She determines that she will delve deeper into gene editing in college. After taking FST117, the world of sensory science opened up to her. This is where food is connected to people, which is something she has always appreciated. Therefore, she decides to join the Delarue lab to explore more about this world.
